Hello,

I've been following the i.MX Windows 10 IoT User’s Guide Rev. W1.1.0, 6/2022 to deploy Windows IoT LTSC 2021 image to my i.MX8M Plus EVK board and I was able to successfully install it on board eMMC. I've used the available prebuilt W21H2-1-1-0 binaries injected into Windows IoT LTSC 2021 image and deployed it but I noticed the GPU driver is not loading. 

I've investigated a little and first notice that no display adapter device was reported in device manager. I was surprised since installation procedure injected available drivers from the prebuilt binaries package. I then manually installed the Galcore driver available in the IoTenTonNXP\driver\galcore folder. Unfortunately, driver is not getting loaded and reports the following error:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

{Not Enough Quota}
Not enough virtual memory or paging file quota is available to complete the specified operation.

I also checked setupapi.dev log file and saw this extra detailed error when installing driver:

Device not started: Device has problem: 0x1f (CM_PROB_FAILED_ADD), problem status: 0xc0000017.

Quick internet search are not pointing to tangible solution where I see tweaking page file or virtual memory to slove issue but I'm using clean image with nothing installed or running.

I would really appreciate your support on this in order to see display adapter working and have GPU support.

Hello @jgrijalba,

No, I did not try it, it is in my do to list. Can I just install the GPU driver from the W1.2.0 release onto the W1.1.0 that I already have or I should just start over from a clean W1.2.0 release?

Hello, I've updated my setup with the 1.2.0 release (clean install) and still no GPU driver being loaded even though it should be based on the release notes. I also tried to install driver manually with the inf of galcore (both version m & mp) to no avail

From what I see in the log, dxgkrnl.sys driver is not being loaded and basic display/renderer is loaded instead.

Confirmed internally, the GPU is not supported yet on iMX8MP. The support will be added in the next release in September this year.

On a side note, I noticed the procedure to deploy was a little bit different where prior 1.1.0 release you had to provide board name which is not there anymore in 1.2.0 and I encountered issues because of that while deploying in WinPE regarding the startnet.cmd/install.cmd command and disk creation scripts with diskpart...

I can also add that my 8M Plus EVK board is using the MIPI-DSI interface with the IMX-MIPI-HDMI to have display output. I noticed this limitation in NXP W1.2.1 Release notes:

i.MX 8M Plus Limitation: MIPI-DSI display interface is not supported. When using MIPI-DSI
together with IMX-MIPI-HDMI, the booting image is displayed correctly, but as
soon as the Windows gpu driver is loaded, it changes to a black screen.
Workaround 1: Firmware support for MIPI-DSI is available, so boot the Windows
using LVDS display interface, uninstall GPU driver using Device Manager, reboot
Windows with the display connected to MIPI-DSI display interface.
Workaround 2: Prepare Windows installation without GPU driver. Download
Windows installation binaries, unzip them. Find and delete \IoTEntOnNXP\dri
vers\Galcore_mp_mn folder. Run the make-winpe-enterprise.cmd to
prepare the installation image. Apply the image to SD card, write firmware to the
SD card. Connect the display to MIPI-DSI display interface, install Windows and
reboot.

Could this be the reason I don't have the GPU loading? I did not do any of those workaround (I even tried to install the galcore driver manually to no avail). Should I try to get my hands on the IMX-LVDS-HDMI instead?

Do you have any news from your AE? I do not have any solution yet for GPU driver not loading with i.MX8M Plus EVK board.
