Ethernet on Usb

have anyone used Ethernet over USB?

Can  you please guide me; for a strange reason in need to do it on Imx28 or Imx23. Even though Imx28 has ethernet.

if you did; please advise on what kind of bandwidth can we get from HS usb?

About USB CDC, RNDIS?

Were you ever able to do any performance testing on the ethernet-usb?

I was wondering about that.

I mean comparing the overhead of Ethernet, protocols, ... to the USB's overhead.

I have been using a USB-Fast Ethernet Adaptor from Digitus (part number DN-3016-A) for some time using Android. This should also work with the standard Linux kernel. You need to modify the kernel settings and select the correct chip set driver. In day to day work this behaves basically exactly like the built-in ethernet port. I have not done any detailed measurements on performance/throughput though.
