Hello Team,

We are using iMX8DQX processor and we would like to enable the VLPR mode. We have already understood and done the VLLS mode, but we would like to enable the VLPR mode.

We checked and understood that the clock will be reduced to 24Mz. Do we need to put the peripherals to

SC_PM_PW_MODE_LP prior going to VLPR ?
Can you please guide the steps that we need to do for VLPR ?

Hello @JosephAtNXP ,

Thanks for responding. I have downloaded the same and saw that only the UART was put to off state. Any other peripherals are not.

I have the following questions:

  • Will I need to explicitly put the peripherals to SC_PM_PW_MODE_LP  or SC_PM_PW_MODE_OFF prior to VLPR mode ?
  • Will I be able to read ADC in VLPR mode ? As the clock will change to 24MHz will I need to re-initialize ADC ?
  • How will the system wake up from VLPR mode to RUN mode ? Is VLPR similar to KS1 ?

Hi @bsourav47,

Actually the experts advise using VLLS:

"Current reduction under VLPR mode is little. So when customers wants to reduce the current, it is a better choice to enter other mode such as VLLS"

Hello @JosephAtNXP ,

I totally get your point, but for a particular use case we are investigating the VLPR mode and would kindly request your support on that please.

If you could please respond to the queries that I posted above.

Additionally we would also want to know if we can detect button press in VLPR mode.

Hello @JosephAtNXP ,

I do not understand when you say please review your email.

You mentioned this : Actually the experts advise using VLLS: "Current reduction under VLPR mode is little. So when customers wants to reduce the current, it is a better choice to enter other mode such as VLLS"

To which I responded as : "I totally get your point, but for a particular use case we are investigating the VLPR mode and would kindly request your support on that please. If you could please respond to the queries that I posted above. Additionally we would also want to know if we can detect button press in VLPR mode."

So I am not sure what I should review in the email. Please clarify. I would still require to know the following for the VLPR mode, this is an investigation the Suzuki team is doing.

  • Will I need to explicitly put the peripherals to SC_PM_PW_MODE_LP  or SC_PM_PW_MODE_OFF prior to VLPR mode ?
  • Will I be able to read ADC in VLPR mode ?
  • As the clock will change to 24MHz will I need to re-initialize ADC ?

I read all my emails and posts. So if could kindly respond then it will be of great help. I still do not have any clear reply from NXP, only you suggested VLLS mode which we already have in our product. Please note we are investigating VLPR mode for a particular use case

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in NXP Semiconductor products,

To switch power modes, there is a Cortex-M demo app that allows power switching the cores, please build the SDK for 8DXL and build demo_apps/power mode switch demo.
