We want to connect i.mx6 to a 2048x1536 eDP LCD panel(pixel clock is 205MHz), since i.mx6 doesn't support eDP we will use a convert IC.

From the i.mx6 user manual,

RGB interface is 225Mpixel/s(datasheet say it is 225M, but user manual say it is 200M, which is correct???), maybe OK.

MIPI interface is 1280x720p at most, so this interface is not acceptable.

Dual lane LVDS is 170Mpixel/s at most, so it is not acceptable too.

HDMI interface is 270MHz.

It seems HDMI interface can support 2048x1536 resolution, and maybe RGB interface can support too.

Which interface should we use? Does anybody succeed to using a 2048x1536 panel in i.mx6 panel? Does i.mx6 dual lite and i.mx6 quad both support?

it is 240MHz, as shows attached part of RM

yes. Actually previous answer "experimental and not fully verified solutions" implies that such resolutions

(as 2048x1536) vere not thoroughly tested on much number of real life applications and performance issues may

be critical for them.

Hi Ionsn,

did you have any success running this panel with the I.MX 6?

What do you use to convert from parallel RGB to eDP (which eDP transmitter)?

Thanks!

Hello,

Try below board.LVDS to eDP bridge.

Hi lonsn

IPU RGB interface supports such resolution, HDMI not (IMX6DQRM  p.1548).

i.mx6 dual lite and i.mx6 quad have similar IPU.

Best regards

igor

Thanks igorpadykov's reply!

Can you help to double confirm the HDMI resolution support? Because from the doc https://community.freescale.com/docs/DOC-104336

In P16/P18, it says the HDMI can support QXGA(2048x1536).

And in this thread: https://community.freescale.com/docs/DOC-100706, this board also claims to support HDMI QXGA resolution.

For RGB interface, what's the max pixel clock frequency?

Hi lonsn

please use official (located on web product page) documents, such as

Datasheet, Reference Manual as most confident source

of technical information. These documents are thoroughly

reviewed by FSL doc team and updated or regular basis.

Also on web you can find experimental and not fully verified solutions,

which can be used with care.

OK, Understand maybe the HDMI interface for higher resolution than 1080p is still experimental.

We will test the parallel RGB interface. I want to double check the max parallel pix clock. In datasheet P6, it says up to 225M, In user manual P454, it says up to 200M. Please clarify which one is correct. Since our panel needs 205MHz pixel clock for 2048x1536, it is critical for us.

Another question: Is CPU and memory performance will be the bottleneck of this resolution?

Hello Lonsn,

Please let me know that, your eDP got worked with iMX6 CPU ? Which converter IC has been used for the same ?

Plan to use ANX6345, but not start yet.
