Can't into USB download mode in SD/MMC manufacture boot flow for i.MX6ULL

Hi all

I'm testing a SD/MMC manufacture boot flow with MCIMX6ULL-EVK.

In my understanding, when I set SW602 to ON, OFF and witch SW601 to OFF, OFF, ON, OFF without microSD card, I can test a following flow.

image002.jpg

However, it seems that it's not into USB download mode.

My confirmation way is using MFGTool.

When I tested with MFGTool, the MFGTool windows shows "No Device Connected”.

So I judged it's not in USB download mode.

On the other hand, I tested same way with MCIMX7SABRE.

It can detect a device.

With a above result, something is wrong with SD/MMC manufacture boot flow for i.MX6ULL.

Is there any information about the error of SD/MMC manufacture boot flow for i.MX6ULL ?

Or please tell me how to check the SD/MMC manufacture boot flow for i.MX6ULL.

firstly, I don't know if this is your typo or not, for mfgtool download mode, sw602 should be D1=OFF D2=ON, pls double check this

Hi Joan Xie

I know that I need to set sw602 to D1=OFF D2=ON when it goes USB download mode.

As I say, I want to test SD/MMC manufacture boot flow, especially, it shows in the figure which is attached in this thread.

In that case, user set BOOT_MODE to "10” first.

Then if the primary boot fail, it goes to the process which it's shown in the figure.

Finally, it goes to USB download mode.

I want to make same situation which is failed in primary boot, so I powered on without insert SD card.

Because I believe that it goes to the flow which I shown in the figure when it failed a primary boot.

Am I wrong ?

If I'm wrong, please show me how to test a SD/MMC manufacture boot flow.

Hi Joan Xie

Thank you for reply.

Let me confirm about my following understanding is correct or not.

I checked a MCIMX6ULL-EVK-DESIGNFILES/MCIMX6ULL_CM_DESIGNFILES/Schematics/SPF-29364_a.pdf and found that the board is not use SD2_CD_B.

From the following answer, Pad of SDx_CD_B is needed to detect whether a card is inserted or not.

https://community.nxp.com/thread/468643

However, MCIMX6ULL-EVK is not use SDx_CD_B.

As a result, MCIMX6ULL-EVK can't detect whether a card is inserted or not and can't tested the SD/MMC manufacture mode.

Am I correct ?

sorry for my delay, I tested this for you on my IMX6ULL evk board, when I set SW602 to OFF, ON and witch SW601 to OFF, OFF, ON, OFF with MicorSD card, I can detect the board by mfgtool. then I set SW602 to ON, OFF and witch SW601 to OFF, OFF, ON, OFF without MicroSD card, I still can detect the board by mfgtool. I don't know why you couldn't find the board, do you have another board to test?

Hi Joan Xie

I tried with another board and it can detect both of mode.

I don't understand why it can't detect before.

Apologies for any problems that I have caused.
