Hello,

We are considering using i.MX 6ULL in a new product and we want to know if this processor supports CAN FD. CAN FD is not mentioned in latest versions of "i.MX 6ULL Applications Processor
Reference Manual" or "i.MX 6ULL Applications Processors for Consumer Products". Also a 2015 post on this forum stated that CAN FD is not supported by i.MX6 (https://community.nxp.com/thread/366880).  However both the FlexCAN Controller webpage (https://www.nxp.com/products/product-information/ip-block-licensing/flexcan-controller:FLEXCAN-CONTR...) and NXP Linux release notes from last year (https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/release-note/i.MX_Linux_Release_Notes.pdf) both mention support for "CAN FD".  Am I safe to assume i.MX 6ULL now supports CAN FD?

Thanks!

Hello Jared Hagel,

It depends on what you mean by FD. FD stands for CAN with Flexible Data Rate and it is supported by FlexCAN. However, it does not support Full Duplex (CAN is a Half Duplex protocol).

I hope this helps!
