Booting up i.mx6

Hi,

We tried booting up imx6(SABRE/AI) board using an SD card. But when we tried seeing the logs using the debug cable, we couldn't see any of the boot logs coming up. We have done the same using multiple SD cards and multiple boards. However, it wasn't booting up for any of the case.

So, could you please let us know the root cause for it or suggest us some thoughts so that we can successfully boot up the board.

Thank you

Hello,

I cannot comment much on the root cause with the information provided, could you please share the BSP version that you are using to test your board?
How did you flash your SD card?
Did you follow Setting Up the System chapter in the Quick Start Guide?

Hi Aldo,

Thanks for responding.

Actually, I'm not sure of the procedure that has been followed. As it has been done by my earlier teammates long back. Can you please guide me with some reference links so that I can start flashing it from the scratch and verify that it's booting.

Thanks

Hi,

Sure, you may download the demo image from here:
https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=L5.10.72_2.2.2_MX6QDLSOLOX&appType=license

The easier way would be to test with demo image first and check that it is working correctly, for flashing you may use any method you feel more comfortable with. I'll recommend using UUU, it can be used in Windows or Linux host PC you may download it from here:
https://github.com/NXPmicro/mfgtools/releases/tag/uuu_1.4.243

For how to use it you may refer to the i.MX Linux User's Guide, I attached here, section 4.2.2 Using UUU. For flashing SD card you may use the command
uuu -b sd_all <bootloader> <rootfs.wic>

For Boot configuration you may refer to the Quick start guide:
https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=IMX6SABREINFOQSG

Best regards,
Aldo.
