Please, find the important link to build a PCB using a KW45 or K32W1 & MCX W71 and all concerning the radio performances, low power and radio certification (CE/FCC/IC).
Migration guide: KW38 to KW45: Available on demand
Design-In check list: excel file attached
RF matching: S parameters (attached file)
ESD: Please note as raised in the KW45 datasheet, the ElectroStatic Discharge of the RF antenna pin is +/-250V (change-device model). In case the targeted system need to pass larger ESD target then an external ESD diode is recommended. The following reference are foressen as acceptable : Nexperia PESD5V0C1BLS-Q, littlefuse SP3522-01ETG, SPSEMI AUSD05CBL.
IMPORTANT Information; launch prototype before production platform to fine tune RF path:
“As RF behavior are dependent of PCB layout & manufacturing; PCB prototypes (based on NXP recommendations) will have to be fine-tuned to insure the expected qualified in RF is reached on the final productized platform.”
In the checklist, we should add a check on the external watchdog, note that if the customer uses the OTA function, when upgrading the firmware, the time required after reset may reach a few seconds, which requires special attention from the external watchdog.
Could you precise your request about the three modes( PMIC, DCDC, Bypass), please?
For your help, you could refer to the AN13230 Kinetis KW45 & K32W1 Bluetooth LE Power Consumption Analysis available in NXP site and playing with the KW45_BLE_power_profile_calculator_v1.5.xlsx file.
For your guidance, the most safe power is the buck mode (DCDC inside the Kinetis product) for sure without any extra BoM cost.
