Does the IW612 support Zigbee?

Hi all,

It says IW612 supports 802.15.4.

However, the only specific protocol written is Thread.

Web news such as the following says it also supports Zigbee.

https://www.avnet.com/wps/portal/silica/products/new-products/npi/2022/nxp-iw612/

Will NXP support Zigbee?

This question is not a confirmation that RF-PHY supports Zigbee, but rather, will NXP provide drivers and firmware (maybe even an API)? I mean.

If it is not from the beginning and is planned for the future, please let us know when that will be, please.

Best Regards,

Dear @YukioOyama

Regarding 802.15.4, IW612 supports Thread protocol at first, as it is the base for Matter, which is a key feature for that chipset.

We have plans to support Zigbee protocol, but we cannot engage on that yet, nor provide any ETA.

Regards,

Olivier

Dear @YukioOyama

We plan to support Dual PAN, meaning Zigbee and Thread working at the same time.

Olivier

Hello Olivier-san,

That is good.

We don't have to worry about which protocol to use or how many devices to have for each protocol.

I want it released more and more quickly.

I close the case. Thanks for the great information.

Hello Olivier-san,

I understood that Zigbee is in your scope but no specific dates have been set.

I expect Zigbee to be supported as soon as possible.

It would be even better if it could be provided with an easy connection to the Matter (that could be an APP layer thing).
If Thread and Zigbee protocol can work at the same time, it is the Greatest.Thank you.
