Vybrid schematic symbol for Altium?

Does anyone have an Altium schematic symbol for the Vybrid processor.  Either the VF5 or the VF6?

I have the tower reference schematics from Freescale but they were created in ORCAD and I have not been able to import them into Altium.  I have tried several different ways and several different versions of Altium.

Thanks!

Hello Richie,

I am a Factory Apps person; according to the company rules, there should be only 1 contact person representing Freescale for you and coordinating the support effort, and it usually is a local Field Apps Engineer - I guess the person that provided you with the schematic. May you request it saved in the older OrCAD format from him/her, please?

If the things are not going "by the book", then it will be time for me to intervene.

Sincerely yours, Naoum Gitnik.

Hello Richie,

I am sorry - OrCAD is our official tool, not Altium.

At the same time, I have used Altium for a few years until last September, including for OrCAD SCH symbol conversion; although not ideal, it has been quite acceptable - smooth, but some part fields have to be fixed manually + some SCH symbol proportions a little distorted.

Just curious - what went wrong in your case...?

The following issues might be helpful, too:

I get an error message:     “Design file not recognized”

Your links to similar issues indicate the ORCAD schematic was saved in a different version of ORCAD.  I would very much like to try that and see if it imports correctly.  Can you arrange this?

All,

The internal design flow for Freescale board development is with Orcad and Allegro. We are currently using version 16.5 and will soon be moving to 16.6. At this time, we can still save schematic files to an older version (16.2 which is Orcad 9.x). Then we begin to have revision control issues with designs vs. customer releases.

I have contacted Altium on two separate occasions requesting a sample copy of their program so we could generate conversion databases (schematic and layout) internally for general release. They have been very close minded to this request and requested that we purchase a full Altium seat. As you are the Altium customer, you need to drive them to provide proper database translators or provide extended support methods (such as our HW Apps team). Freescale does not have any pull with Altium since we do not purchase their tools.

Your concern should be with what happens when Cadence no longer supports 16.2 conversions. When this occurs, Freescale will not be able to support Altium conversions.

I have attached a down rev'd schematic for you.

I will also support our FAEs with the Allegro to Altium layout database script conversions. This conversion requires an Allegro seat, and the script runs very quickly. But again, this should be requested through your local FAE.

Hope this is resolves the issue.

Hi Richie,

Naoum and I discussed, and concluded that it would be better for you to work through your supporting FAE on this particular issue.

Of course please feel free to enter other technical questions you might encounter about Vybrid in this space, and our support members will try to help.

Regards,

Grant

Hello Richie, may I ask, where did you get the TWR schematics? I've been browsing all over the place and I just cannot find it :smileysad:
