Hi,
My customer have about "Table 79. Revision History (continued) " in "VF6xx, VF5xx, VF3xx Data Sheet, Rev. 7, 04/2014".
It is the following part.
”In the 24MHz external oscillator electrical characteristics table, revised the min value of VIH and max value of VIL”
Q1)This version up reason?
Q2)The reason why Rev 6 was not disclosed in Jan 2014?
Best Regards,
soichi
Dear Soichi,
Regards, Naoum Gitnik.
Dear Naoum,
The reason the ”In the 24MHz external oscillator electrical characteristics table, revised the min value of VIH and max value of VIL” change was that these parameters were mentioned in several places of the older document,
and practically the same values were presented in the inconsistent, somewhat confusing form, so we fixed that.
The reason mentioned above approved it.
Please tell me the technical reason why a value was revised.(VIH:0.75→0.8 VIL:0.25→0.2)
Best regards,
soichi
Dear Naoum,
Thank you for reply.
May I ask why the reason why we switched from revision 5 directly to 7, having skipped 6, is so critical, please? (Ross McLuckie<https://community.freescale.com/people/RossMcLuckie>)
My customer designs the data sheet to a base. It performs mass production soon.
They may have to change a design. Mass production will be late if so.
data sheets rev.6 are changed very much.
They will need the information if they update data sheet.
Why were Rev6 not made open?
My and my customer wants to know the reason that information disclosure delayed to Rev.7.
Best Regards,
soichi
There was no official rev 6, the docs team assumed there was a rev 6 since the review draft was open so long, I highlighted this to them, but as they had already produced the release version 7 the decision was taken just to publish it and skip 6 and not delay the release any more.

Dear Ross,
I received your message.
Thank you.
Please tell me the technical reason why a value was revised.(VIH:0.75→0.8 VIL:0.25→0.2)
Please tell me if there is any information about that.

As explained by Naoum, there were a few different places the spec was quoted and slight differences in the values used, 0.2 or 0.25, 0.75 or 0.8, we have standardised on 0.2 and 0.8, aligns with iMX, which is where the oscillator came from and more characterisation work was carried out.
Ross
Dear Ross,
there were a few different places the spec was quoted and slight differences in the values used,
What does the data sheet show concretely?
Best Regards,
Soichi
0.2 and 0.8 is the spec we support and should be what is displayed in all places referring to this spec.
Dear Ross,
Thank you for reply.
