32 schools and over 300 students have registered for the 2012/2013 Freescale Cup competition across 9 countries.

This year the race will feature a choice of 2 MCU platforms:

  • Qorivva's MPC5604B 32bit Automotive controller
  • Kinetis ARM Cortex-M4 32bit Industrial microcontroller

Students are working to create the most intelligent race car to win the EMEA Finals that will be held end of March 2013 at the ESIEE Paris. Follow their progress and see their videos on this site.

Hello,

On the wiki page "K40: Line Scan Camera Tutorial"  (http://freescalecupwiki.freescale.com/en:k40-line-scan-camera )  a link is missing to the zip archive for the camera example project for the tower K40.

Similarly, on the K40: Blinking LED (http://freescalecupwiki.freescale.com/en:k40-blink-led) the link to the example code "LED_BLINK_96MHZ" is broken.

Best regards,

Thierry

Hi Marek,

No, the boards are standard for all the competitors. There is a choice of the MPC5604B TRK board, the K40 tower, K40 Kwikstik and a new board with integrated motor control featuring K40 that will be available in July. All the data is already loaded in the Wiki on StreetSmarts

Thank you. So we will be able to make custom control boards with that processor for this year?

Hi Matthieu,

yes, the track's specs are the same as last year but we are adding some new MCU platforms to the competition. See the new discussion started for the next season.

Hello,

we are thinking about the next cup, and we would like to know whether the line width will be the same next year. Could you tell us if any changes are forecasted ?

Thank you

Richard, if the documentation has changed, a change list is sufficient. Thanks

Question about the documentation update: should the team provide completely new (updated) documentation, or just changelist?

Each car goes through 1 round of qualification (2 times 1 lap) but as we have 34 teams, it will take us some time to get through this on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning to give time to each time to do it. Technically, if you go all the way to the final round, your car will go 4 times around the track: 2 times 1 lap in Qualification and 2 times 1 lap during the final round

Does "Start of 1st Qualifications", "Cont'd 1st Qualifications" and "Cont'd 1st Qualifications" on the next day mean that (1) each robot has to participate in every qualification session and go through 2 laps in each one of them or (2) each team has to participate in only one of that sessions?

4. Width of the racing track shall not be less than 600mm/23.65in.

6. Surface of the racing track is matte white, with a continuous black line (25mm/1in wide) drawn in the middle as the pilot line.

7. The minimum bending radius of the racing track shall not be less than 500mm/19.7in.

10. There is a straight starting area of 1000mm/39.4in long in the racing track, as shown in figure below. In addition, there is a black starting line 100mm/3.9in long at both sides of the starting point. Start time and end time will be determined when the front part of the racing car passes the starting line. The car must be able to automatically

Do the " Section 11: Parameters of the Racing Track " from the TFC_2011_RULES_EMEA v3 still apply to the contest ?
