Security is critical to the growing market for IoT-enabled devices: There were already more than 5 billion connected devices in the world last year, and use is expected to grow to 12 billion by 2020. To support this rapid expansion, prominent internet players, including Alibaba, AWS, Google, IBM and Microsoft are establishing their own cloud services and industrial suppliers are moving quickly to broaden their private cloud offerings. Automotive instrument clusters and in-vehicle infotainment rely more and more on complex application processors. They also require large software components to function properly. This complexity also increases risks of failures. There is also a growing need of safety, to detect and handle system faults in a timely manner. This is traditionally achieved by adding external parts dedicated to this purpose, increasing the system cost. We introduce the SafeAssure Rear View Camera and SafeAssure Display solutions, with which we show how a system design can be simplified, and cost reduce during the unique safety features integrated in the NXP i.MX 8 application processor.

EUF-NET-T1742 - This session provides an overview on the security technologies NXP offers to secure a system through two complementary technologies: 1) the Trust Architecture already present in QorIQ P- and T-series including Secure Boot and 2) the TrustZone® technology introduced in the ARM®-based QorIQ LS series processors. We will outline the motivations for offering these technologies in embedded processors and show how they can be complementary for making a final system “Trustable” in the sense it does what its users and suppliers expect it to do.

Level 3 -5 Autonomous vehicle systems are complex systems where algorithms for perception, localization, planning and control needs to run on real time hardware platform; all algorithm are developed considering off line data storage, simulation, high-definition (HD) mapping, and deep learning model training. EUF-NET-T1751 - Layerscape Management Complex firmware is built to enable DPAA2 customers with resource, state and flow management. It is designed specifically for resource allocation and tracking, resource recovery in fault scenarios, and abstraction, virtualization and management of network functions. These networking functions include network interfaces, switches and aggregators, accelerator interfaces, and more. It's also designed specifically for supporting key attributes for objects management like direct access by different software contexts, dynamic discovery of objects, hot plug/unplug and security and isolation between software contexts.
