I have built a Yocto full image load for a t1040d4rdb following the QorIQ SDK v2.0-1703 Documentation.

using these commands I have gotten the image to almost load;

setenv ethact FM1@DTSEC4

ping 192.168.1.95

Using FM1@DTSEC4 device

host 192.168.1.95 is alive

Upload the U-BOOT:

tftp 0x1000000 u-boot-t1040d4rdb-64b.bin

protect off 0xebf40000 +$filesize

erase 0xebf40000 +$filesize

cp.b 0x1000000 0xebf40000 $filesize

protect on 0xebf40000 +$filesize

Upload the RCW:

tftp 0x1000000 rcw/t1040d4rdb/RR_P_66/rcw_1400MHz.bin

protect off 0xec000000 +$filesize

erase 0xec000000 +$filesize

cp.b 0x1000000 0xec000000 $filesize

protect on 0xec000000 +$filesize

Upload the microcode FMAN

tftp 0x1000000 fsl_fman_ucode_t1040_r1.1_106_4_18.bin

protect off 0xEBF00000 +$filesize

erase 0xEBF00000 +$filesize

cp.b 0x1000000 0xEBF00000 $filesize

protect on 0xEBF00000 +$filesize

saveenv

Switch to Bank 4

cpld reset altbank

setenv ethact FM1@DTSEC4

setenv initrd_high 0xffffffff

setenv bootargs ‘root=/dev/ram rw console=ttyS0,115200 ramdisk_size=10000000 log_buf_len=128K’

saveenv

tftp 0x1000000 uImage-t1040d4rdb-64b.bin

tftp 0x2000000 uImage-t1040d4rdb.dtb

tftp 0x3000000 fsl-image-full-t1040d4rdb-64b-20201123203234.rootfs.ext2.gz.u-boot

bootm 0x1000000 0x3000000 0x2000000

However I have not been able to get past the runlevel request and the u-boot log has several issues that look suspicious.  Is there a better build that can support my unmodified t1040d4rdb?

All assistance is most appreciated.

Bill

The fsl-image-full image is too large, it is not suitable to boot from ramdisk, you could deploy full rootfs image to SD/USB/SATA, then boot rootfs from SD/USB/SATA.

You could use fsl-image-core image to do ramdisk boot.

Please refer to the following procedure to deploy rootfs to boot Kernel and filesystem from SD/MMC.

1. Use the mkfs.ext2 command to create the filesystems.

# mkfs.ext2 /dev/sdb2

2. Copy the file system to SD card by extracting the QorIQ_SDK_V1.6_ROOTFS_Image.tar.gz from rebuild image ISO, remove the tarball after extracting rootfs.

# cp QorIQ_SDK_V1.6_ROOTFS_Image.tar.gz .

# tar -zxvf QorIQ_SDK_V1.6_ROOTFS_Image.tar.gz

# rm QorIQ_SDK_V1.6_ROOTFS_Image.tar.gz

3. Plug in the SD card to the target board and power on.

4. Set the environment in uboot for SD boot.

# setenv bootfile uImage

# setenv fdtfile uImage.dtb

# setenv bootcmd 'setenv bootargs root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootdelay=5 console=$consoledev,$baudrate;mmcinfo;ext2load mmc 0:2 $loadaddr /boot/$bootfile;ext2load mmc 0:2 $fdtaddr /boot/$fdtfile;bootm $loadaddr - $fdtaddr'

# boot

1) Is there something special about V1.6 or is it just for illustration? 2) V1.6 @ https://freescaleesd.flexnetoperations.com/337170/171/8531171/QorIQ%20SDK%20v1.6%20PPCE6500%20Image.... does not respond to a download request. Has it been removed? 3) In your instructions below the boot does not find my uImage...bin does it need the link or the bin file itself? R/ Bill
