I'm looking for more information on the purpose and recommended termination of the Vref pin on the TJA1050T/VM device:

I don't see much information in the datasheet.

Hello Paul,
the Vref pin is to stablize common mode signal in network when used.
It is a voltage source pin and can be left open if not used.
