PCA8886 - push button mode locks up

We are trying to use the PCA8886 in push button mode, after a few cycles 'hits' the outputs lock up active. Pulse mode works fine, but we really need push button mode - is there a fix? Perhaps a resistor up/down ? The datasheet says just tie 'type' to earth - but it locks up.

Hi Richard,

There are two sensors in PCA8886 and as a consequence both TYPE[1:2] pins need to be tied to GND to get both sensors working in push button mode.

To investigate more about what might be wrong, could you please post here your schematics and BOM?

Regards,

Tomas

Hi Tomas

We used the OM11052 PCA8886 touch demo board, replaced C3 and C6 470nF caps with links, and it also ‘locks up’ As in both outputs set active, needs a power reset to stop – and no, its not ‘toggling’ either.

This is a showstopper for us, we need to fix it.

Thanks

Richard

Hello Tomas

Both pins tied to ground, will get permission and send schematic/BOM ASAP
