MPXV7002 - sensitive to position? Or a faulty part?

I'm trying to use an MPXV7002 in a handheld mobile connected device. It appears the baseline shifts when I pick up the device.

Is the MPXV7002 sensitive to position (effect of gravity on the membrane)?

Or should it remain the same reading no matter how I hold the transducer?

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Yes, a small change in offset voltage (typically a few mV) due to a change in position is common for such highly sensitive pressure sensors. This is because the the diaphragm and gel of the sensor have mass and because the mass to diaphragm thickness ratio increases as the pressure range decreases, the sensitivity to position increases as the pressure range decreases.

Regards,

Tomas
