Hello,

my question is for a clarification of the datasheet of this sensor. What is the rating of absolut pressure i could imput in both imputs at the same time.

For exampel the theoretic situation. My input in the sensor are the absolute pressure P1=100kPa and P2=105kPa, so the output is the corresponding voltage for P2-P1=5kPa. But dose this sensor work also at higher absolute pressures, if I dont exceed the differential working window of P2-P1=0-10kPa? At what pressure the sensor dose not work reliabel or would be irreversibly harmed.

I expect that this data is dependent on the sorunding pressure. So for simplification i wound consinder the sorounding pressure as 101.325 Pa (normal pressure).

With kind regards

A fellow Engineer

Hello Lucas,

you understand it correctly. The MP3V5010DP is a differential pressure sensor type, which compares the pressure applied to the port P1 against port P2. The MP3V5010GP has a very same internal structure, but has only one port P1 for hose application. The second port P2 is left open for ambient pressure as a reference.

In our portfolio I have found a differential type with higher pressure range in the same package. It is the MPXV5100DP. It can withstand maximum burst pressure up to 400kPa.

You can consider, that the SOT package for both MP3V5010DP and MPXV5100DP sensors can withstand this pressure (400kPa) as long as the differential pressure for the MP3V5010DP does not exceed the maximum burst pressure.

The measuring pressure range is of course much lower.

Please note, that you must make sure there will be no breach in hoses you will use. You apply the differential pressure to the MP3V5010DP e.g. P1=380kPa and P2=375kPa, P1-P2=5kPa, which is within the pressure range, but if there is a sudden breach in one of the hoses, the ambient pressure is applied to one port (approximately 100kPa), the differential pressure immediately exceeds the 75kPa burst pressure and destroys the sensor. 380kPa-100kPa=280kPa>75kPa.

With Best Regards,

Jozef
