Hello,
is it true, that the FXOS8700CQR1 will be discontinued within the following year and there is no replacement?
We received discontinuation notifications from two independet supply vendors but on the NXP-Website the Part is still on "active".
I would like to know which information is true or false?
Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Lukas

Hello Lukas,
Yes, the FXOS8700CQ is going to be discontinued with no replacement. The last order date is Dec/1/2021 and last delivery date Dec/1/2023.
The Status information on the Buy/Parametrics tab is planned to be changed within October 2020.
We apologize for any inconveniences raised by this discontinuation!
Best regards,
Tomas
Hello Lukas!
That is very sad news for us!
For applications requiring only the accelerometer section, is the the FXLS8471Q a compatible replacement?
Is the FXLS8471Q to be continued?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers
JR
Hello Jean,
Unfortunately, the FXLS8471Q is also going to be discontinued with the same last order and shipment day.
However, there will the FXLS8964/74 qualified well in advance of the FXLS8471Q last shipments (mid-2022 vs. end-2023) so this should provide a suitable replacement.
Best regards,
Tomas

Dear Tomas,
by now there have been several updates out by NXP and by distributors.
Currently I see that potential replacement candidates are FXLS8964 and FXLS8974.
Both devices are available in Q4 2022 according to distributors.
The old device FXOS8700 is on last order now and will be delivered Q4 2022.
Is that correct?
That would mean effectively that there is zero time for a design-in of the next generation of NXP accelerometers. It would force us to immediately find components from other manufacturers - which would be a pitty.
Can you please shed some light on the product timelines?
Thanks!
JRB
Hello Jean,
The current lead time is about 52 weeks. The official last order date remains Dec/1/2021 and last delivery date Dec/1/2023. However, NXP will allow changes to orders (within ±10%) once per quarter (March, June, Sept, Nov) during 2022 – effectively extending last order date by 1 year. Oak Hill fab will cease sensor production Dec 2023, so 2024 shipments will be from buffer stock.
For applications requiring only an accelerometer, the recommended replacement is the FXLS8964/67/74. First samples are going to be available in Q2/Q3 2022.
Best regards,
Tomas
Any reason why you're discontinuing it? Any plans in the future for a 6 or 9 axis sensor?
Thanks.
Sry, replied to the wrong post....
Tomas, do you have any news as per question above?
Thx!
