What is the max pressure range on the MPXV7002DP differential pressure sensor? I see that on the datasheet, it says Pmax = 75 kPa. Does this mean the ABSOLUTE pressure on each port, or is this the maximum DIFFERENCE between P1 and P2? Similarly, is the measurement range of -0.3 to +0.3 PSI absolute or differential? I intend to use this to measure airspeed, so the absolute pressure on these ports will be around atmospheric pressure (14.7 PSI) and the difference in pressure from one to the other should be no more than 0.3 PSI. Does this work? Thanks!
Hello Theo,
Thank you very much for writing.
The MPXV7002DP is a differential pressure sensor, which means that the difference in pressure between two points is measured where pressure is applied to both sides (Port P1 and Port P2) of sensor.
In this case the pressure range is from -2kPa to 2kPa. This means that the device will respond to a difference in pressure from the range mentioned.
The maximum pressure that the device can support before getting damaged is 75kPa.
I hope this information helps.
Best Regards,
David
Hi David,
Thank you for your response. I'm still a little unclear about one thing: when you say, "The maximum pressure that the device can support before getting damaged is 75kPa", is this maximum pressure the differential pressure between the two ports? If not, then this sensor would get damaged at atmospheric pressure.
Thanks!
Theo
Hello Theo,
That is actually a good question.
Indeed, the difference between P1 and P2 should not exceed 75 kPa in order to avoid permanent damage in the device.

David
Dear david_diaz,
I have a question similar about MPXV7002GP.
In a Gauge type : MPXV7002GP, Is my following understanding correct as absolute maximum rating for P1?
*I understand that the positive value and a negative value are the same amounts.

Hello George,
Thank you for writing.
In this case, I totally agree with you in regard with the maximum rating for the MPXV7002GP device. Beyond this limit means device damage.
Please note that the pressure range of the MPXV7002 device if from -2 to 2 kPa. So, in order to expect the information mentioned on the datasheet, please make sure you are within this range.
Regards,
David
Dear David,
Thanks.

Greetings, David Diaz Marin,
I am eagerly awaiting further updates on the issue which we are facing on mpxv7002dp.
For your convenience, I will ask in another way, I have used an MPXV7002DP pressure sensor to measure the air velocity in turbulent condition, and I have been carrying out under different delays (time interval between two successive readings ) for enough time, that in pursuit of making time averaging that is representative for the turbulence.
I have been read the datasheet which includes the following
I would, therefore, be grateful if you could let me know your opinion about the minimum delay is allowed. Thank you.
Hi David,
Thank you so much for taking the time to clarify my confusion!
Best wishes,
Theo
