Dear NXP Support Team,

I am currently working with the SE050 and SE052F secure elements and would like to request official documentation or confirmation regarding support for the BrainpoolP256r1 elliptic curve.

While the datasheets and public documentation mention general support for "Brainpool" curves, they do not explicitly list BrainpoolP256r1 or BrainpoolP256t1. However, the Plug & Trust middleware defines kSE05x_ECCurve_Brainpool256 = 0x09, which appears to correspond to BrainpoolP256r1.

To ensure compliance and proper documentation for our project, could you please confirm:

  • Whether BrainpoolP256r1 is officially supported on both SE050 and SE052F variants.
If so, could you provide or direct me to the official documentation (e.g., datasheet, application note, or cryptographic algorithm support list) that explicitly lists this curve?
    • Our companies have an NDA in place. If this information is under NDA and the public forum is not suitable for providing a feedback please let me know how to proceed. More generally i'm interested in having access to a document containg the detailed cryptographic algorithm support list.
  • Can you provide the same kind of information for BrainpoolP256t1 and let me know whether private keys belonging to both these 2 curves can be stored in the same SE05x chip at the same time?

Thank you for your assistance.

N.

Hi @nicolaponzevero ,

It is R1 indeed, which is specified in the APDU spec in the section "Memory consumption" the memory consumption is given for the curve BrainpoolXXX_R1 only as this is the supported variant.

Hope that helps,

Have a great day,
Kan
