Need clarity on the FIT SER spreadsheet.(not sure if I may copy and paste the whole table)

FIT is divided into recoverable and unrecoverable. System SRAM blocks are considered as fully recoverable and code cache is 99% recoverable (low,<200ms).

SER FIT rate (FITs/device)

Max SER potential

SER w/ECC

49

49

w/ECC means With ECC or without ECC?

why we are adding recoverable and unrecoverable FITs?

please clarify

Hi,

Please find below the answers to the following query:

Ans 1: w/ECC means with ECC. ECC is 100% effective for that particular memory. So, that’s why SER w/ECC is same as the Max SER Potential and therefore, unrecoverable FIT = 0

Ans 2: We are adding recoverable and unrecoverable FIT’s because not all ECC's are 100% effective for all memories and the faults of memory which are not covered by ECC/Parity are transferred under unrecoverable FIT.

Kind Regards,

Rupal
