S32K3xx - media clock timestamping using PPS0 input

Hello,

In S32K3 RM, in chapter "73.17.167 MAC PPS Control (MAC_PPS_Control)" it says that PPS0 can be used to capture presentation time at rising/falling/both edge of a media clock.

But the same values of PPSCTRL_PPS CMD are used also above in the manual:

How is it defined which of the above value sets are effective, pulse train or timestamp capture on edge?

Thank you,

Jakub

Hi,

Thank you for the answer and the PPT file.

Is it possible to read timestamps from MAC PPS0 Target Time registers (written by MAC on capturing rising/falling edge of an external clock signal) by CPU or only DMA can make those reads?

Thank you,

Jakub

Hi Jakub,CPU and DMA can read&write MAC PPS0 Target Time registers. DMA can reduce CPU loading and it is recommended for operation.

The attachment is a demo project that DMA will write data to MAC PPS0 Target Time registers and will generate media clock.

BR,

Shuang
