S32K388EVB-Q289 board changes to use external debugger

The user manual for the S32K388EVB-Q289 mentions a modification of the board to use it with an external debugger.  Chapter 15.1 notes to disconnect J822 and J848 whereas chapter 15.2 of the same document requests to additionally remove the resistors R161, R181, R192 and R43.

When connecting a PEMicro  USB Universal FX or Segger J-Link Pro which of the chapters 15.1 or 15.2 does apply?  Do I need to remove the resistors or is it enough to open J822 and J848?

Based on tests using the evaluation board, removing the jumpers J822 and J848 as well as the resistors R161, R181, R192, and R43 is necessary to have a stable operation with an external debugger, such as the PEMicro Multilink Universal or J-Link.  This should be clearly emphasized in the reference manual of the evaluation board.

I have checked the operation using an external PEMicro Universal FX debug probe and removing the jumpers J822 and J848 only.  Unfortunately, this setup leads to an unstable debug operation (e.g., starting the debug session for the first time seems to work, restarting the session leads to an error message while trying to connect).  I have not explored in detail why it behaves in that way.  I could repeat the setup and include the error messages if this proves to be helpful.  In a next step I will remove the resistors and rerun the tests.

I don't have the RevB schematics, so I can't check the circuit. I haven't received the S32K388EVB-Q289 I ordered yet, so I can't test it. My colleague can perform SWD debugging through an external debugger after disconnecting J848 and J822.
