Connecting real batteries to MC33772B instead of an emulator

Hello all,

Thanks to the great NXP product, I am able to rapidly startup my BMS algorithm development project using S32K144EVB, FRDM33772BSPIEVB, and a 6EMULATOR. Everything works perfectly and there is no issue at all following the manual.

Now, I am trying to replace the 6EMULATOR with my own real 6 cell battery pack and looking for any document to descript this process. I am basically trying to connect,

1) 6 pairs of cell voltage measurement lines (+,-)

2) 6 pairs of cell temperature measurement lines (+,-)

3) 1 pair of pack current measurement lines (+,-)

Is there anyone who accomplished this setup?

Best regards,

Dr. Sunghun Jung

I noticed your transition from using an emulator to connecting real batteries for your BMS algorithm project with NXP products. It's a significant step! While I don't have specific documentation, here are some tips:
Prioritize safety when working with real batteries to avoid any mishaps.
Carefully connect the voltage and temperature measurement lines to match your battery pack's specifications.
Ensure a reliable connection for pack current measurement to monitor current flow accurately.
Additionally, you might want to explore Home Energy Storage System as they involve real battery packs and could provide insights into effective connections.

Hello Jungx148,

there is a FRDM33772BSPIEVB schematic available, which can be used as a reference for your design. The schematic is divided into blocks describing Cell Voltage measurements, Filtering Current Sensor, EMC protection, SPI interface, GPIO/Temperature measurement. But the document is confidential and I am not allowed to share it in the community. If you want the schematic, please create a ticket here: https://support.nxp.com/s/

I apologize for inconvenience.

You will also need to have signed an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) with NXP.

With Best Regards,

Jozef
