MC9S12DT256, To use an IR demodulator

Hi all,

My goal is to use the MC9S12DT256, as an IR demodulator. I may be at the wrong place, but I am looking for advice on how to tackle this. What would be a idea, would be to find a IR decoder that converts the IR data (from a receiver) into a serial string. I have looked and cannot seem to find any decoder IC's.

Since freescale offers many control aplications, I was curious if there are datasheets/appliaction notes anywhere with perhaps some example code, C or asm is fine.

I haven't seen that as such, but there are fairly common IR modules that output serial data that you can pick up cheap. I'm not sure if they output bit streams or bytes, but they go a long way to doing the 'IR' portion of the detect and decode.
