Does anyone know of an alternative IDE to the Atmosphere IoT Studio Developer as this is moving to paid only accounts at $99 per month on 13th December 2021 - not ideal for students to use with the Rapid out of the box IoT kits.

Hope you are doing well. Currently, the development tools were migrated to atmosphereiot.com IoT IDE.
There is an option to import the example projects to MCUXpresso, you can follow this community post: RAPID-IOT MCUXPRESSO EXAMPLES PROJECTS - NXP Community.
