Thermal diode importance in P2041

Hello,

We are using P2041 in one of our applications. We want to know the importance of thermal diode built-in in the P2041. Means it will measure junction temperature or case temperature of P2041?

In datasheet it is mentioned as processor temperature. What exactly it mean?

The thermal diode is placed on the die so it measures the junction temperature.
