T2081 POWERSUPPLY DESIGN CORE POWER REQUIREMENTS

Hi NXP'ians,

My query is regarding the T2081 core power(current) requirements and I've taken the reference design from T1040/2081 RDB.

As per the T2081 datasheet the  CORE&PLATFORM(VDD&S1VDD) current/power requirements for the T2081 processor is 10-15W (approx.) and the switching regulator used for the core voltage generation is Infineons "IR3473"(for 5V to 1V generation) which has only  6A (max.)continuous current supplying capability only.

So can I use the IR3473 DC-DC regulator for supplying core(VDD)&platform(S1VDD) as per RDB or suggest if any modifications are needed?

Hi LPP

Thank you for the reply and I've gone through it.

Now Please suggest can I use any other switcher module (capable of supplying 15A-20A) other than Infeneon's with simple configuration as the T1040/2080RDB uses complex configuration for generating core voltage.

Thanks in advance.

IR3473 is not enought to feed VDD core. On RDB boards, this device is used for many other lanes with less current requirments.

T1040RDB and T2080RDB utilizes IR36021 (up to 60 A) for VDD core supply.
