Linux Support of SFP+ on LS1046A

I  am working on a new hardware design based on the LS1046A.   The customer was promised 10GBe.  However due to a fire in a chip plant, the AQR107 has very long lead times and the substitute parts are extremely expensive.    One option that I thought of was to use the SFP+ portion of the reference design and then use a 10GBe  RJ45 plug-in.     Rough costs still show this as an increase from our original estimates, but not as bad as the high prices that Marvell chips are going for.  My boss is concerned about Linux support for the SFP+ connector.

If I get a reference board and a 10GBe RJ45 adapter will the existing Linux support it?

Is there a list of adapters that do work or things to watch out for when choosng SFP+ adapters for use on the LS1046A?

Any other known solutions for 10GBe support on the LS1046A without the Marvell chip family?

Thank you.

Please refer to the LS1046ARDB design possessing SFP cage connected to the XFI interface of the processor.

Link to the RDB page:

Of course the SFP connection is supported in the NXP LSDK - see "10GEC2" description in the DTS:
