To whom may it concern

Hi, i'm HS.

I have questions regarding the number of process cores and the frequency of LX2160A and LX2080A.

Q1. LX2160A have 16 cores as we all know, but we're wondering if we can select 8 cores of 16 to be on and another 8 cores off.

We consider purchasing LX2080A as a main CPU in our project but since we purchased LX2160A already, we want to verify LX2080A's performance by turning off half of cores in LX2160A.

Can we select the number of process core we use like this? If it's possible, how can we do it?

Q2. Can we change the core frequency? How can we do it?

Q3. Does this core frequency adjust itself as load condition varies or does external controls need to be applied? Is it possible for LX2160A(or LX2080A) to change its core frequency when it's on?

Thank you

1) Yes - refer to the QorIQ LX2160A, LX2120A, LX2080A Data Sheet, Rev. 0, Table 1. Device Personality Selection

2) Yes - refer to the QorIQ LX2160A Reference Manual, Rev. 0, 4.10 IP Logic Clock Distribution and Configuration

No.

Yes - refer to the QorIQ LX2160A Reference Manual, Rev. 0, 4.6.1.1 Core Cluster a Clock Control/Status Register (CLKC1CSR - CLKC8CSR)

Hi Ufedor,

You mentioned changing the pins - TEST_SEL_B, cfg_svr[0:1] would set the number of core we use.

Can we get similar test data of LX2080A in respect of power consumption if we set these pins of LX2160A as 101?

Thank you.

Hi, Ufedor

I will take your comments as LX2160A can disable its core and act like LX2120A and LX2080A and its power consumption will be lowered.

As you mentioned, the datasheet denotes its power characteristics as to VDD, which is reference voltage of cores.

Where can we find other power consumption data with other blocks such as SerDes, UART?

LS1046A Datasheet denotes power consumption data of both core and other I/O blocks but i cant find them in LX2160A.

Thank you for your hard work and i hope you have a great day.
