PE Components and integration with MQX

Good day, I have a basic newbie question. I created a custom BSP using a clone of an existing freescale provided BSP (KN60DN512). Changed the processor to MK60DN512VLL10 and configured clocks, generated code, and compile with no errors. Now inorder to use one of the uarts as a serial console does the serial port need to be added as a component in PE, or does the MQX config handle it. I've tried both ways with no luck yet. Also if needs to be component under PE which serial component to use?

I have an intresting update. I built the "hello world" example application with the custom BSP with serial component removed from PE. I download image to flash reset board and no characters on terminal. I then flash again, I get the "Hello World" on terminal, but P&E just says erasing ............... and never stops. I have to close codewarrior download again then it says chip is secure do you want to unsecure. Cycle repeats. Whats up. This got me baffled.
