re: MCP8347E

When a single bit error occurs, what value do we expect to see in ECE bit filed for register CAPTURE_ECC:

Compilation (MOD2) of all the bits selected for a specific ECC bit?

The value from the table depicting a specific bit?

Thanks,

-Tom

ECE field indicates captured ECC bits on the bus when an ECC error is detected. Nothing is compilated or depicted.

Hi Bulat,

I’m sorry, with your reply, I don’t have a greater understanding of the ECC bits in the register.

Let me ask in a different way:

If while in execution a single bit error is detected, how do I use the ECC bits to diagnose the source?

Thanks,

-Tom

ECC bits are not normally intended to be used by the user, or in other words ECE field value itself is useless for any kind of diagnose. As you might know, the DDR controller automatically corrects single-bit errors. The best what can user do in case of a single-bit error, is to write back correct value to the address indicated by the CAPTURE_ADDRESS register.
