MPC 8260 FEC Full Duplex Mode

I am using the Fast Ethernet Controller (FEC) on the 8260.

The FEC FPSMR[FDE] bit controls full duplex mode.

The management lines (MDC and MDIO) to the phy are not connected.

Question is can  FDE be enabled for phy connections that are half duplex ?

I would like to enable FDE (Full Duplex) and be certain that this will work for both duplex connections.

Your PHY will generate collision if the MPC8260 FCC is configured in full-duplex.

And because the FCC will ignore collisions in full duplex mode, no retries will occur.

Thank you.

Check collision and carrier sense events in your PHY datasheet.

The question is more about what the FCC/CPM does with collisions in full duplex mode.

I believe I found the answer in the user manual where it states that collisions are ignored in full duplex mode. It seems that to work properly, the FCC duplex mode must be set according to the established link mode.
