Hi,

I'm interested in using the MC33774A to develop cell monitoring boards capable of measuring less than the 18-cell maximum of the MC33774A. I see the MC33774A is able to measure 4-18cells per device but can't find much information describing the use cases for less than 18 cells.

Is there a document similar to AN12536 ('Using the MC33771 with less than 14 cells) with respect to the MC33774?

Or should I apply the same principles found in AN12536 to the '774 just as I would to the '771?

BR,

Will

It is possible to direct-short all upper unused cells together when using a lower number of cells and they can even be connected via a connector if they have a low pass filter.

Hello,

We have included this information in the MC33774 datasheet, section 11.1.2.

Hope this helps.
