what does MC33908 work if input voltage range higher than 28V

Hello,

I want use MC33908 for 24v System, but I found its green operation voltage range was 6.0~28V. The max voltage in 24V system may higher than 28V. In datasheet it is said between 28V~40V " Potential Vpre thermal limitation". What will MC33908 works between 28V to 40V? If my load is not high, can I use it in 24V system?

Hello,

Our proposal for 24V systems, as shown in Figure 31 of AN4766, is to insert a Maxim device MAX6495 between Vbat and Vsup to protect the input voltage of MC33908, plus other local protections on pins going or coming from outside of the module.
