TRK-MPC5634M (rev B) - no virtual serial port

I have this MPC5634 board - great deal. One issue is that no virtual serial port appears in Windows. I upgraded the Windows drivers, no change. I tried to update the OSJTAG firmware, but putting a jumper on J35 (OSJTAG BootloaderEnable) causes the board to not power up at all. Any suggestions?

P&E support was helpful in using a Multilink to upgrade the OSBDM firmware (J35 didn't work) - I now see the serial port in Windows even if I don't see any characters coming in.

FreeScale support hasn't been any help either. I'll probably have to add a real serial port with a USB to RS232 ttl adapter.

Unfortunately, most Windows program do not see these virtual serial ports. You can run "P&E Terminal Window Application" but nothing else. Evidently virtual serial ports are pretty much worthless.
