With any choice of RLC channel, the meter shows a capacitance relative to ground equal to the capacitor at the input. Why is this happening?

The through channel is internally grounded by 20kOhm. So, the tester will see 10nF in series with 20kOhm to GND. The measurement result depends on the tester functionality. At low frequency it will see 10nF capacitor, at high frequency 20k resistor.
