Regarding center pad of CBTU02044

Dears,

On the Datasheet of CBTU02044, the Center pad is NC and recommends connection with GND.
Isn't it a problem to connect the pad that is not connected to GND internally to GND from the outside?
I'm curious about the role of the center pad. Is it a Thermal Pad?

Dear Adam,

The center pad may be treated as thermal pad and it is indeed recommended to connect it to PCB ground.
