PCF85063A sometimes reporting time 00/0/0:0/0/0

Hi

I have worked on a board that has PCF85063A together with microchip MCU (PIC24FJ128GL306). We have over 10,000 units in the field that constantly log data. The RTC works well however there are times when the chip time resets to 00. The date reported is 00/00/00:00/00/00(YY/MM/DD:HH/MM:SS).Sometimes, this happens temporarily then it resumes to the correct date and time while sometimes the it does not resume to the correct time. While this happens the time still increments well(seconds and minutes). What could be the issue here. This is the circuit

What could be the issue here?

Hello ombokdouglas,

I hope all is great with you. Thank you for using the NXP communities.

I would like to add some recommendations about the power up timing that you may consider:

We require the VDD to go up very quickly (< 8ms), or else there is a chance of corrupted registers due to POR failure.

Would it be possible for you to ensure that such a condition is met?

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

David
