Good morning,

I was curious what your thoughts were to running this evaluation board at a higher voltage. It states 50 volts in the literature, however the Vds of the datasheet is 133 volts for the FET.

If I could run this at 65DC it would work for my application.

thanks

In an amplifier, drain voltage swings on both sides of the supply. Typical peak voltage is about twice of the supply. It could be even more in the presence of the second harmonic. An amplifier operating at 50V will have peak drain voltage more than 100V.

General recommendation is to leave about 20% safety margin to breakdown rating: 133V*0.8=107V. So, 50V is a reasonable choice.

Running an amplifier at 65V does not not leave a margin. It would require accurate design to avoid overvoltage. Also, this design may not be tolerant to load impedance mismatch.

We have MRFX family that is qualified at 65V and 179V typical breakdown voltage.
