Does DSPD56371AF180 processor include all features of DSPB56371AF180?    That is, DSPD56371 has Generic, mini-SA and PPP as its base line in its software code?  Related NXP document is: DSPDECODERMSC.pdf (nxp.com).   Is there somewhere where the difference between these two part numbers is summarized?  ('D' vs. 'B')

Hi,

The DSPB56371AF180 includes the basic Generic, mini-SA and PPP, but does not includes the decoder code in ROM.

The DSPD56371AF180 includes the basic Generic, mini-SA and PPP, and includes the decoder code such as AC-3....

Pls download DSPA56371.pdf from the link:

https://www.nxp.com.cn/docs/en/user-guide/DSPA56371SUM.pdf

But I have not DSPD56371SUM.pdf.

Because the DSP56300 has been end of life, we have not resource to support the audio feature.

Hope it can help you

Thanks XiangJun Rong.  Follow-up questions on this if you don't mind?

  • I would assume both parts are pin compatible. Is that correct?

  • A few more on this line:

From  DSPDECODERMSC.pdf (nxp.com), 150MHz DSPB56371AF part has wider operating temperature range than 180MHz DSPB56371AF.  Is it possible to configure 150MHz part to work at 180MHz?

From the user manual DSP56371 24-Bit Digital Signal Processor User Manual (nxp.com), section 5.8:  "If the main oscillator (Fosc) is allowed to exceed the maximum specified operating frequency as a result of the overshoot, corrupted operation may occur."   That doesn’t suggest a 180MHz configuration for the 150MHz processor.  Is the corruption caused by higher temperature?   And, if the 150MHz higher temperature tolerance can overcome the corruption?  Can you share some thoughts on this?

  • Lastly, is the DSPD56371AF150 also a BLANK ROM VERSION like DSPB56371AF180?

I greatly appreciate your assistance with this!

Best regards,
Craig Stiegman

Hi,

As the following picture, DSPA56371 and DSPB56371 and DSPD56371 are pin to pin compatible, the only different is the ROM code and data.

For the DSPA56371AF150, you have to run it in 150MHz at most, For the DSPA56371AF180, you can run it in 180MHz at most, exceeding frequency is not recommended.

The temperature range of all of DSP56371 is from 0 to 70 degree.

The DSPD56371AF150 is not ROM blank, it has  DD/DTS 5.1 decoding + Dolby Headphone & Dolby Virtual Speaker in ROM
