Industry 4.0, also known as Industrial IoT, is based on cyber physical systems. It will connect objects together inside and outside the factory. This session will discuss the newest technology solutions to access up to the far end remote node via wired or wireless connection. We will go into more detail on IO-Link, a point to point communication, replacing traditional sensor to PLC cabling. IO-Link enables smart access to a sensor or an actuator with data collection and maintenance capabilities. We will also look at disruptive long range wireless communication based on Sigfox technology to connect isolated sensors requiring a long battery life.
