How to get the version of NT3H2111 over I2c

I want to communicate with the NT3H2111 so first I want to do GET_VERSION but it is not working yet. 

I am trying to send a wake up and then a get version command. 

Q1: Does the field need to be present for me to able to send I2C commands? If yes, which states support this?

Q2: Do I need to send a WUPA and then a GET_VERSION?

I have found the issue- it is that GET_VERSION and WUPA are NFC command and not I2C command.
