Hi how secure is the NFC tags made upon MIFARE Classic 1k? Is it protected against data copying and cloning? If so what should be done for this protection? If not, which is the type card we can use to achieve this?

We have planned to use libnfc to communicate with the tag.

Hi Kiran KP:

Thank you for using our NFC community.

MIFARE Classic EV1 offers security with 2 CRYPTO1 keys (48-bit each) per memory sector.

However if your application is security sensitive, we actually recommend using one of our newer MIFARE Plus or MIFARE DESFire products, which offer higher security (e.g. AES encryption).

For an overview of the whole MIFARE product range please see the table in the next link, then you can select one according to your application requirements:

I hope this helps.

Regards!
