MC33887 - Current peaks on motor activation

Hello,
I am using an MC33887PFK to control a 24V Brushed Maxon DCX-22 S motor.

When I go to enable the motor by putting a high level on the EN pin voltage, there is a surge of current coming from the power supply over 3A on the motor.

Is there any way to limit this spike? Or a way to enable the motor gradually?

Thanks.

Hello Amadeo,

there is a possibility to connect a PWM signal to one of the input pins. Either IN1 or IN2, while keeping the second input constantly high. You can start for example with 5% duty cycle and increasing the duty cycle to 100%.

Please refer to the section 12. for switching waveforms. You can limit the output current with the duty cycle of the PWM signal brought to one of the inputs.
