Hi,

We recommend using the SPI as it is needed for safety monitoring, configuration and diagnostic reporting. For example if you get a fault, you clear the fault by reading it through SPI.

This does not answer the question.  It seems you are saying that it will work without SPI, just not accessing all the features - correct?
