Questions Regarding MC33774A Operating Modes and Balancing Logic in NXP BMS MBD Examples

  1. In all NXP BMS evaluation board model-based design examples in the MATLAB library, there is no pin to control the operating mode of the battery-cell controller IC (MC33774A). Based on the datasheet, this IC has four operating modes (Deep Sleep, Sleep, Active, and Cyclic), but there is no direct access to control them in the MBD examples. I have two questions regarding this:
    A. In the example for NXP BMS evaluation boards in Matlab/Simulink, which operating mode is set to the MC33774A?
    B. If it is always set to Active mode, would this pose any issues for the IC during battery charging and discharging? Can the IC automatically detect charging and discharging modes and select the corresponding operating mode accordingly?

  2. I reviewed the video presented:
Speeding Up BMS Applications with MBDT
In this example, there is a block named Balancing_Logic. It appears that this block is used only for simulation and does not control the MC33774A battery balancer IC. Could anybody please clarify? If it does not control parameters such as balancing thresholds, ON/OFF delay times, and sample time, how can we configure these settings through MBDT?
