Hi Nxp Team,

Please advice us on the below customer issue.@

NXP PCAL6416AHF,128 - I/O Expander, 16bit, 400 kHz, I2C, 1.65 V, 5.5 V, HWQFN URL NXP: https://www.nxp.com/part/PCAL6416AHF

ISSUE: 10 of the 25 defects. The complete circuit in which this device is used just does not work... "Dead". By replacing them with a good one the circuit works just fine. Please check the two attached images of the imprint on the devices. Defect IO chip.bmp Good.bmp

QUESTION: How to go forth with NXP? Can they recognize something by these imprints and what the possible workaround might be? Maybe a start current being slightly too high or a voltage out of a certain window?

Hi

Please show us your application circuit and environment!

Please also do a PCB failure analysis about fail boards to eliminate the solder issue.

For your schematic:

1: do you pull up SCL/SDA to VCC?

2: What's VSS value?
