overheating of microcontroller

i am using microcontroller mpc5606b

i have the noticed that the chip becomes very hot when i connect it with the usb cable to laptop.

does it mean that the microcontroller is expired now.

actually what happened

we were using the code of ADC by taking values of the potentiometer present on the board.

but the next day it didn't work and chip started getting hot .

we also don't know exact why this happened.

the board was connected with usb cable with laptop.

Well, this could be really caused by jumpers J19 and J20. Make sure the jumpers are configured correctly on your new board.

Hi,

1. Set the jumpers as described above.

2. Follow standard ESD rules.

3. Be careful when external components are connected to the board. Keep external signals within current and voltage specs.

You shared too little details about previous usage of the board, so I'm not really able to say why the board has been damaged.

Hi,

jumpers J19 and J20 should be set to position 2-3 (VSSA/VDDA). The schematic is universal for 5604B and 5605/6/7B. In case of 144pin package, the only difference is that pins 81 and 82 are used as GPIO on 5604B but there are VSSA/VDDA supply rails on 5605/6/7B. The jumpers are used for configuration.

The rest of jumpers is OK. I would just recommend to put the SBC chip into debug mode to avoid possible issues. Just move the jumper from J5 to J4.
